About Jess
Hi! I'm a cat lover and am currently on a career break with some spare time on my hands. I'm a registered volunteer at the LAP cat shelter in Sai Ying Pun, and owner of two affectionate and silly nine-year-old rescue tabbies who were originally found as strays by Kirsten's Zoo in Hong Kong.
I am available to make house visits to look after your cats for a minimum of 30 minutes, or longer if needed. I am based in Sheung Wan, so can travel easily to homes on Hong Kong Island to make visits throughout the day, with early mornings preferred. During the visits, I can feed your cats, clean their cat box, refill cat litter, play with your cats and give plenty of head rubs and cuddles. I can give medicine, and help our longer-haired (ragdolls!) or older friends with any extra wiping after they do their business ;) If needed, I can pick up cat food or cat litter on the way to your house, as well as water plants, check your mailbox and hopefully give you some peace of mind while you are away. I'd be more than happy to share photo and video updates when I'm there.
My motivation for being a cat sitter comes from experiencing first-hand the worry and anxiety that comes with travelling when you've left your pets at home. We've tried relying on (petless!) friends, but it's different when you know that your chosen caregiver has the experience to understand and assess your cats' mood, temperament & personality and adjust their care accordingly.
To this end, I've fostered a friend's energetic (and cheeky!) 1 year old American Short Hair for 6 months, and handled numerous vet visits due to a pre-existing eye condition. I have experience administering eye drops and gel-based medicine. He has stayed with us a few times since then, whenever his mom travels.
Since it took a while for my two cats to adjust to the American Short Hair above, I'm unable to take cats in, but I'm happy to do house visits on HK Island.
