Memorable beginnings (since March 2025)

It has been a memorable year since I joined this platform in March 2025. I came across it by chance, and I eventually decided to join because I still miss my Fox Terrier, who passed away decades ago. I tried adopting again, but I couldn’t stand the thought of going through that kind of goodbye too soon. So I started pet-sitting, partly to keep a warm relationship with pets, and partly because I genuinely love caring for furry friends.

After I joined, I didn’t expect so many wonderful pet-parent enquiries, especially because I already have a long-established business. My company is supported by my team and has a mature, stable operation, so while I keep that running, I choose to spend my time doing something that feels more personal to me: caring for pets.

Haha, my staff always jokes that the “furry kids” seem more important than the company business. In a way, they’re right. What touches me most is receiving great appreciation from pet parents after I pet-sit or house-sit their furry kids. Those messages truly mean a lot to me.

Bond-building is my favorite part

Over the period, it’s been very interesting and heartwarming to look after many different pets, from huge-sized Malamutes and dogs of different breeds, to catitude cats (cats with different personalities). I’m especially grateful when parents repeatedly seek my help, whether it’s for walks, day care, or house-sitting whenever they need support.

Ziggy the poodle — joyful routines and a special bond

One of my happiest stories is Ziggy the poodle. I accepted his mum’s request to help with his weekday care, and when she was on duty at the hospital, I also house-sat for Ziggy very often.

We had our special routine at the waterfront park, Ziggy loved running and playing with his most important toy: a ball. I always joke with him that his running speed is like a Ferrari’s speed, because he could sprint so fast to catch it.

Ziggy is such a positive-minded boy, and he always gives me great positive energy. Even though his real legs aren’t the same length (due to how he was born), his running speed could be faster than many other dogs, and he would definitely catch people’s attention. In the park, he had a fun “performance” vibe that made people laugh. And the best part is that he always looked back at me to make sure I was around whenever he was off-leash running.

It was very sad for me when Ziggy returned to London with his mum for good after our one year together. I still miss him a lot, because I always remember he would immediately come to my lap when he knew I had finished my work at the desk.

Ziggy, I love you. I really hope you’ll have a very good time with your mum in London. I’m sure there will be many people who would love to play with you, because you’re truly smart and sweet.

Emotional bonding with Fufu, Poppy & Dusty

Another meaningful story is my help with an expat married couple. Whenever they traveled, I supported them with house-sitting their three furry kids, staying in their big home on Lantau Island more than a couple of times. The last time, I stayed there for over three weeks to take care of them.

Building emotional bonding with those three kids was genuinely very special to me. I was very happy to motivate Fufu (huge-sized and often reluctant to walk far) together with the Mongrel Poppy to the beach. At first, Fufu was hesitant, but it eventually worked. They ran and played at the beach, and I could really feel how happy that moment made them.

Every day, I walked Poppy to the beach. She’s a sweet girl who always wanted to be clingy with me, even though she was off-leash. Meanwhile, the cool Maine Coon cat Dusty always liked to be my bedmate; she would come next to me to sleep the whole night every day. I even told her parent that we had “pillow talk” every night :)

Lots of joyful moments with the lovely kids

Over the period, I’ve also had many other memorable moments with furry kids that I truly enjoyed. The most recent one was taking care of a newborn Golden Retriever Saffran, who has grown from puppy size into a standard big size now.

I also looked after a shy Shiba called Yuen Yuen—she always wanted to turn back and go home right after pooping. Her parent was surprised (in the best way!) that she became willing to walk further with me.

And there’s the high-energy Border Collie Chi Chi—walking her together was always such fun. Chi Chi had so much energy, and it made every walk feel lively and exciting.

Catitude cats: Zelie & Kingston

I’ve also had the joy of pet-sitting two cats in two different families during this period.

There was Zelie, a gorgeous and playful cat who came to Hong Kong with her expat parents. She was such a good “performer”; she played a lot, and most interestingly, she eventually came to my lap after playtime. Her parents were also very happy when they saw the photos and videos I sent.

Then there was Kingston, a shy cat who isn’t easy with strangers. I was so glad that he finally relaxed around me, meowing in a very lovely, sweet voice. Every time I visited, he couldn’t wait for his favorite Churu, getting excited and coming close immediately, so funny! Over time, we became pretty good friends, and he even enjoyed my massage very much. Finally, he relaxed, blinked, and slept before I left.

More than I can fit in one bio (so many stories!)

I can’t list too many stories here, because there have been so many wonderful furry friends and over 10 different types of pets I’ve had the pleasure of meeting, like Alex, a gorgeous and sweet Rottweiler girl, and Donut & Pancake, who are very well-behaved Mongrels. I truly enjoy the bond-building moments: helping pets feel safe, comfortable, and cared for like family, and giving pet parents peace of mind through consistent, loving care and regular updates.

Haha, these are the greatest moments I enjoy most: the laughter, the companionship, the routines, and that warm feeling when both pets and parents trust me.
